OVIN Invests in reasonX to Advance AI Safety Assurance for Autonomous Systems

reasonX Labs will advance SafetyScope, the safety-case module of its reasonX platform, with support from the Government of Ontario through the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN).

Ottawa, Ontario – September 15, 2026 – reasonX Labs Inc., a deep-technology company developing AI-powered safety assurance tools for autonomous and robotic systems, is pleased to announce its participation in a new Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) R&D Partnership Fund project focused on advancing AI safety assurance for autonomous systems. In partnership with Provectus Robotics Solutions Inc., a Rheinmetall Canada company, reasonX Labs will advance SafetyScope to help engineers manage safety evidence for autonomous and robotic technologies.

The project represents a total investment of nearly $466,000, including up to $100,000 from the Ontario government through OVIN and nearly $366,000 in industry contributions from reasonX Labs and Rheinmetall Canada.

As autonomous vehicles, industrial robots, and intelligent machines move closer to commercial deployment, the engineering work required to demonstrate that these systems are safe to operate has grown faster than the tools available to do that work. Safety cases, hazard analyses, and compliance evidence still rely heavily on manual, document-based processes that slow certification and increase engineering cost. Through this OVIN-supported project, reasonX Labs will advance SafetyScope to bring AI assistance and structured safety engineering into one connected workflow, helping engineering teams develop audit-ready safety evidence more efficiently.

SafetyScope will support a Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) safety case framework, functional safety baseline tooling aligned with ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), and IEC 61508, evidence management, audit-ready reporting, and validation against industry safety documentation workflows. By improving how safety evidence is created, connected, and maintained, the project will help support the commercialization of safer autonomous and robotic systems while strengthening Ontario's leadership in advanced mobility and automation technologies.

What Our Partners Are Saying

“SafetyScope is built to make safety engineering work move at the speed software teams already work at. OVIN's support and our partnership with Rheinmetall Canada let us advance SafetyScope to a level where it can be used in real safety engineering work, in Ontario, on Ontario-developed autonomous systems.”Mary Yazdani, Founder and CEO of reasonX Labs

“SafetyScope has accelerated our Functional Safety (FuSa) design, review, and documentation processes. It has also acted as a valuable interface between our Functional Safety and Software Engineering teams, allowing each to share inputs using a common toolchain. Rheinmetall Canada is pleased to be working with reasonX to improve and expand SafetyScope's capabilities.”Pietro Mazzei, CEO of Rheinmetall Canada

“Ontario's continued leadership in automotive and mobility innovation is built on the strength of collaboration. By bringing together innovative SMEs, industry partners, researchers, and government, OVIN is creating the conditions for made-in-Ontario technologies to move from concept to commercialization faster. These investments are helping build a more resilient, competitive automotive ecosystem, one that creates high-value jobs, attracts investment, and ensures Ontario remains a global leader in the future of mobility.”Claudia Krywiak, President and CEO of the Ontario Centre of Innovation

“Ontario's automotive and mobility sector continues to demonstrate the innovation, talent and ambition needed to lead in a rapidly evolving global market. Through OVIN, we are helping Ontario companies accelerate the development of transformative technologies, strengthen strategic partnerships, and bring made-in-Ontario solutions closer to commercialization. Investments like these play an important role in reinforcing Ontario's supply chain and ensuring the province remains competitive in the industries of the future.”Raed Kadri, Head of the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) at OCI
